I purchased a policy for my 65 year old brother who was in bad health. I purchased only enough to bury him which was a policy valued at about $8500.00. He past away 6 years after I purchased the policy. I filled out the form and provided the death certificate and sent it in. The customer service person(s) I spoke with always gave me their condolences on his passing and were very courteous - except once when one of them tried to sell me more insurance. But all in all I had a very good experience and they paid the claim within 20 days of his passing.
This Company is a joke. My mother turned 85 just 2 months ago..she called and then recieved a letter saying they couldn't help her. I recieved a letter a week after. (I never contacted them)I called them and they wanted me to call back at another number fro customer assistance. I was told the next day that in Mass the laws are different and it is only to 75 not 85!! What false advertising!!! They should make mention at to state it applys to....I would never trust them because they offered NO explanation in their letter to my mother. Poor eldery get scammed all the time. The man I spoke with was not even convincing!
Since my father didn't have a policy for three years I did not recieve the full amount that he was paying for on his policy which is a bunch of BS. The amount paid was not even half of what his policy was for. Something needs to be done about this. This is a rip off especially for the policy holder's family. If someone is paying for 10,000 in life insurance than that is the amount that needs to be paid regardless of how long the person has the policy for.
