Aetna vs FDLIC

Aetna Life Insurance and Federated Life Insurance are two very similar insurance companies that offer nearly the same basic life insurance policies at about the same price. But, does that mean that everything about these companies is the same?

As we delve into the specifics, you will find that these companies offer different services and lean towards different customers. Both are very good, but it matters what type of service you are looking for with your life insurance.

Individual Vs. Business Policyholders

Some life insurance companies sell policies directly to individuals. In the case of Federated and Aetna Life Insurance, both only sell to businesses as business insurance group policies. Individuals can receive plans through their employers, but neither sell directly to individuals.

Basic Life Insurance Policies

As far as basic life insurance is concerned, both of these businesses are basically tied. They can offer similarly sized policies at about the same price. They both also offer group policies for businesses. In this aspect there is really nothing to say between the two, because they are so evenly matched.

Firm Size

Aetna and Federated Life Insurance are very different in size. Federated employs about 2,700 people, while Aetna employs 10 times as many, or 27,000. However, both have been shown to equally serve their clients, and their life insurance policies are offered in most states.

Aetna Special Life Insurance Benefits

Aetna and Federated Life Insurance differ greatly when you look into the special benefits you get as a policyholder.

Life Insurance Firm

With Aetna, they concentrate on helping you now, before you or the policyholder passes away. Due to this, they offer “living benefits.” These give you access to legal and financial counseling if the need arises.

You can choose to increase the amount of supplemental counseling and insurance you can get, but this increases the price of the life insurance policy.

They also stress extra benefits after the policyholder is deceased. When someone passes away, a lot of work is needed, and there may need to be medical case management or other similar services. Aetna bundles this in with their life insurance policy.

Another benefit they offer is to help pay for bereavement counseling, and legal advice if there are any problems with the will or other similar issues.

Federated Special Life Insurance Benefits

While Aetna focuses more on people and the living, Federated offers special benefits that are more business like in nature. Federated understands that people are taking out life insurance policies because there will not be enough money for spouses or businesses to function once the policyholder passes on.

Due to this, Federated Life Insurance helps the policyholder calculate the exact amount of life insurance needed to fulfill these requirements. They will go over the person’s financial and business records, looking at costs and needs.

Not only that, but they focus on the long term, making sure that the business or individuals left behind will have enough money for years to come after the policyholder passes away.

They specialized in personal, business, disability and retirement life insurance needs and assessments.

While they do not offer any living benefits, they are more comprehensive in helping you select the right policy size.

Parent Company

Both Aetna Life Insurance and Federated Life Insurance are owned by a parent company, Aetna and Federated Insurance respectively. The parent companies offer other insurance types that you can bundle with your life insurance to decrease the overall costs.

Federated Insurance is skewed more towards business owners and group policies. They also have property, auto (for Minnesota only) and certain types of liability insurance, such as professional and environmental liability insurance.

Aetna focuses more on health insurance. You can get medical, dental, vision, pharmacy and other similar health insurance policies that help cover costs. However, they lack auto and liability insurances.

If you are a business trying to get group policies, or you need liability insurance, then Federated can be much better. However, if you want to bundle your life and medical insurance, then Aetna will be your company.

Federated Life Insurance Audience

Federated Life Insurance is a company that caters more towards businesses and business-minded people. The type of people that like Federated know that either a person or business will be left behind after the policyholder passes away.

Since the policyholder does not want the person to suffer without any money, or he or she wants the business to continue to live on, this person will appreciate how Federated pays special attention to the holder’s financial situation, ensuring that everyone gets the money they need.

Aetna Life Insurance Audience

Family Health Insurance

Aetna caters towards businesses and individuals that know death is just one part of life, but that life is going on right now. These people need benefits that help them while they are alive, just as much as it will help family members when the pass away.

With their living benefits, these people will enjoy the benefit of being able to get certain types of legal and financial counseling. Not only that, but Aetna has a softer touch when the policyholder does pass away by helping those left behind deal with the pain of loss.

The Winner

The winner between the two really matter on what you are looking for with your life insurance company, as both cater well to their respective clients.

If you are business-minded, Federated Life Insurance may be best for you. If you want benefits now, and if you want your family members to receive help after you are gone, Aetna Life Insurance may be your best pick.
