Aetna Life Insurance and Disability Coverage

Aetna offers term life insurance that you can get through your employer. The coverage and terms available vary depending on the company you work for, so ask your employer about the details. Just note that your policy will pay extra if your death is caused by an accident of any type.

You can also get short-term disability from Aetna. If you are suddenly disabled and unable to work, you will get either half of your salary or $125 weekly. You will continue getting these payments for up to six months, and since the checks are made out to you, you can spend the money on whatever you need.

Aetna Medical Plans

A Fixed Benefit plan pays a fixed amount for hospital stays outpatient surgery, x-rays, labs, preventive services, and prescription drugs. This can replace a traditional medical plan as long as you are prepared to pay the full amount of your medical bills upfront since you will usually be reimbursed later.

You can get an Accident Plan that covers you after an accident leaves you hospitalized or simply injured. Your regular medical insurance may not cover everything, in which case an accident plan can cover the ambulance ride, intensive care, days in the hospital, and more. You will get cash so that you can use the money on anything you need. You can get this coverage for the whole family, and there is no prior health exam required.

The Hospital Plan specifically covers you if you have to be hospitalized for a while. You will get $100 to $500 each day that you are in the hospital, for up to 10 to 100 days annually. You will also get a single payment of $1000 to $2000 per year

There is also a Critical Illness plan that pays you cash if you are severely ill, such as if you are diagnosed with cancer, stroke, heart attack, or need an organ transplant. You can use the cash to pay regular bills, daycare for kids, or anything your medical insurance does not cover.

Aetna Dental and Vision

Have you ever wanted to know why you should buy dental insurance? Aetna dental coverage pays up to $500 annually for each person enrolled. You only have to pay a $50 deductible for the year, and you can see any dentist you want to.

Each family member enrolled in the vision plan gets $100 per year to spend on eye needs, including eye exams and eyewear. You can also get discounts on LASIK, glasses, and contacts.

Humana Insurance Company Life Insurance and Disability

You can get term life insurance through this company, either for yourself only or for your entire family. Just decide whose income you could not do without, as you will need life insurance to replace it in the case of a family member’s death. When you get a plan through your employer, the minimum coverage offered by Humana Insurance Company is $10,000. You can also get supplemental life insurance from this company if you already have a policy that you wish to add to.

You can also get AD&D, which is short for accidental death and dismemberment. This is helpful if an accident leaves you either dead or unable to perform regular functions. It is available for you and your spouse, but not children.

As you buy term life insurance from Humana Insurance Company, you should note that your coverage will start reducing gradually once you turn 65 years old. Another detail to note is that you can also purchase whole life coverage through Humana Insurance Company with a value of up to $300,000. Unlike term coverage, you can access at least a portion of this money throughout life, and the amount will grow gradually due to interest.

Short-term disability is another plan available from Humana, and it enables you to get 2/3 of your regular income as you recover from being sick or injured. You can also get long-term disability coverage, which also provides 2/3 of your regular income once your short-term coverage ends.

Humana Insurance Company Medical Coverage

When you get coverage through your employer, you have several options. Consider the basics:

  • High Deductible Health Plan features very low premiums in exchange for deductibles in excess of $1000.
  • Health Savings Plan is an account that lets you put in money tax-free as long as you use it for medical expenses for the year; it can be combined with a High Deductible Health Plan.
  • PCA Plan offers an account that your employer funds; you use the account to pay for medical expenses, and once the money is gone, you need to meet the deductible, after which coinsurance kicks in.
  • CoverageFirst pays the initial $500 of your medical costs, and once it is used up, you just have to meet the deductible to start getting 100% of your medical costs paid for.
  • Preferred Provider Organization, or PPO, offers the most coverage when you choose providers within the network; if you want to use out-of-network doctors, you pay more.
  • Health Maintenance Organization, or HMO, only pays for medical costs when you see a doctor within the network; you get no coverage if you choose someone not in the network.
  • Point of Service, or POS, lets you save money by using in-network doctors, but you can choose out-of-network doctors, too, and just pay more on your own.
  • Humana Classic pays the same amount no matter which doctor you see; you just have to pay copays, coinsurance, and deductibles as usual.

Humana Insurance Company Dental and Vision Plans

Like the medical coverage, you have many options when choosing dental coverage through Humana Insurance Company. Consider the choices:

  • Traditional Preferred lets you choose any dentist, but you get the most coverage when you choose an in-network provider.
  • Dental PPO also provides more coverage when you use in-network dentists, but you do have the option of choosing out-of-network providers.
  • Preventive Plus lets you choose any dentist, with a $50 deductible per person, and 100% coinsurance for preventive services like cleanings.
  • Advantage Plus offers the same benefits as Preventive Plus, but you must use an in-network dentist.
  • DHMO Prepaid requires you to pre-pay a certain amount, but you do not have deductibles or yearly maximums as a result.

If you need vision care, you can choose between two plans with Humana Insurance Company. Vision Care Plan offers savings on eye glasses or contacts, and only requires a copay for eye exams. EyeMed offers an eye exam for only $10, and also provides discounts on eyewear.

Compare Your Choices

If you are searching for insurance, choose the company that offers the plans you need. If they both do, you should get a price quote to get the lowest premium possible. Just be sure to find out what each policy covers so you can feel prepared for anything.
