If you become sick or injured, having health insurance can save you a great deal of money. Medical expenses for even relatively minor health issues can be high and if you have a major or catastrophic illness, then medical costs can soar into the hundreds of thousands of dollars very quickly.

Choosing the right kind of health insurance can have a gigantic impact on your financial health as well as your physical health. AFLAC

AFLAC provides supplemental health insurance. As a result, they do not provide reimbursement for medical expenses to medical providers, hospitals or doctors. Instead, they provide payments to you directly that can be used for expenses that are not normally covered by health insurance.

For example, if you or a family member needs to travel for medical treatment, AFLAC supplemental insurance can be used to cover expenses for hotel, meals or other related costs. Additionally, AFLAC payments can be used for forms of medical treatment that may not be covered by your other health insurance. You can purchase AFLAC supplemental insurance coverage as an individual or if your employer offers it as part of your benefit plan.

Accident Coverage

If you have AFLAC accident coverage, expenses related to an accident are covered. Many health insurance polices do not cover costs such as ambulance, medical devices or lodging costs. With AFLAC accident coverage, you are paid directly and you can apply the payment to any related expenses, such as broken teeth, concussion treatment, physical therapy or medications. Also, you can use the payments to cover things like rent, your mortgage payment or groceries if your accident results in you needing to take time off work.

Cancer/Disease-Specific Coverage

Cancer and other catastrophic illness can wipe a person out financially. In fact, it is not uncommon for treatment for a single major catastrophic illness to quickly reach the limits of coverage for most health insurance policies. Cancer/Disease-Specific coverage from AFLAC provides you with a safety net to pay for expenses that may not be covered by your health insurance and can help you extend that coverage. For example, many health insurance plans do not cover experimental treatments for cancer and other illnesses.

However, with AFLAC supplemental insurance, you can pay for expenses related to this kind of health treatment. Additionally, you can use AFLAC payments for deductibles, treatment from out-of-network health specialists or alternative treatment providers. AFLAC payments can also help you with normal everyday expenses while you are ill, such as groceries, utility bills, mortgage or rental payments, your car insurance or travel expenses.

Lump Sum Cancer

In some instances, it is better to select AFLAC Lump Sum Cancer coverage. With this coverage, you will receive a lump sum in a preestablished amount you select when you sign-up for AFLAC supplemental coverage. When you or a covered family member is diagnosed with cancer, you will receive payment that can be applied to any related expenses, including experimental treatments, deductibles and medications. Additionally, if treatment is needed outside of your local area, you can use the money from AFLAC to cover travel expenses, including rental cars, meals and lodging.

Lump Sum Critical Illness

Critical illness can be extremely expensive. AFLAC Lump Sum Critical Illness coverage can be applied to illnesses such as end-stage renal failure, heart attack, stroke, coma, major organ transplant and paralysis injuries.

This supplemental health insurance allows you to receive a single lump sum payment, which you can use for treatment expenses not covered by your other health insurance. Additionally, you can use it for daily living expenses, travel and lodging if you or a covered family member needs specialized treatment.

Hospital Intensive Care

AFLAC’s Hospital Intensive Care policies can help offset the major expenses that occur if you or a covered family member has an accident or illness that results in the necessity of being admitted to intensive care. Claims are usually processed within four days, giving you immediate money to pay for expenses that may not be covered under your health insurance policy.

Additionally, this policy provides an initial cash benefit for the first seven days of treatment and increases the benefit for the next eight days. There are no deductibles and payments are made directly to you. They can be used for major organ transplant treatment and ambulance costs. Additionally, you can use payments from AFLAC for specialized nursing treatment, medications, medical equipment and daily household needs.

American Republic Insurance Company

American Republic Insurance Company was established in 1929 and is rated A- by AM Best, which is one of the highest ratings given to insurance companies. In addition to providing health insurance for individuals and families, they also offer supplemental Medicare health insurance policies.

Medicare Supplemental Plans

Supplemental Medicare plans from American Republic allow you to choose whatever doctors you want to use, even if you are away from home in the United States. Additionally, there are no waiting periods for pre-existing health conditions. Members of a couple receive a discount, even if both members are not covered by American Republic and you can receive preferred rates if you are currently in good health.

Choosing Supplemental Health Insurance

Both AFLAC and American Republic Insurance Company offer quality health insurance policies for individuals. If you are looking for health insurance, consider your current health status and insurance needs.

Both AFLAC and American Republic offer supplemental health insurance that can help offset costs not covered under traditional health insurance policies.
