Major medical insurance benefits generally covers a high percentage of your medical bills, whether you go in for a routine doctor’s visit or you have to spend time in the hospital. But, they don’t cover everything and they won’t pay you cash to help you with general living expenses you may struggle to pay while sick or hurt.
Both Aflac and Liberty National Life Insurance Company offer not only life insurance but also supplemental insurance to help pay your remaining medical bills and everyday expenses.

Claims and Benefits
Cash benefits are a pre-determined amount. They are paid no matter what other insurance policies you may have. Aflac rates will not go up when you file a claim. Claim forms are simple and easy to complete, and they are generally processed within four days.
Types of Insurance Offered
- Accident – Cash benefits received for a covered accident that can help pay for expenses not fully covered by major medical. (i.e. broken teeth, concussions, ambulance rides, emergency room visits, lacerations, and intensive care unit stays)
- Cancer/specified disease – In the event of a cancer diagnosis, benefits will be paid during covered cancer treatments to help with expenses not covered by major medical. (i.e. experimental treatment, child care, household aid, out-of-network specialists, deductibles, possible travel and lodging, and everyday living expenses)
- Critical care and recovery – Cash benefits are paid in case of a serious health condition, such as a heart attack, stroke, paralysis, or a major transplant.
- Dental – Helps cover routine dental procedures (i.e. check-ups, x-rays, cleanings, cavity fillings, and root canals) and allows you to choose any dentist from any network. You are not required to meet a yearly deductible and can count on stable and competitive rates.
- Hospital confinement indemnity – Pays benefits to help when you are hospitalized. You will receive an increased benefit amount for the first five days of hospitalization, no deductibles, no pre-certification, and you can go to the hospital of your choice.
- Hospital confinement sickness indemnity – Cash benefits provided in the event of your hospitalization due to sickness. The primary benefits will pay for hospital care while you also have a physician feature for when you’re sick, have an accident, or need a routine check-up. The benefits of this policy include hospital confinement, major diagnostic exams, surgery, ambulance transports, and no pre-certification or network requirements.
- Hospital intensive care – If an accident or illness results in your admission to the intensive care unit, you will receive cash benefits with this policy. The initial benefit is for the first seven days in the ICU. The next eight days you will receive a higher cash benefit amount.
- Juvenile life – Benefits will help pay final medical and burial costs of your child or grandchild in the event of their death, or it will ensure future insurability. Juvenile whole life builds cash value over time and can be kept for a lifetime with the coverage amount doubling on the policy anniversary following the child’s eighteenth birthday. Juvenile term life provides benefits until the child’s twenty-fifth birthday when they may convert it to a permanent life policy.
- Life- Benefits to help your loved ones with immediate and future financial needs following your death. They offer both whole and term life insurance policies.
- Lump sum cancer – A pre-set amount of cash will be paid to you in the event that you are diagnosed with cancer. This can be used for everyday expenses or to pay for expenses related to the cancer not covered by major medical insurance. (i.e. transportation to and from medical buildings, out-of-network specialists, experimental treatments, rehabilitation, and extended hospital stays.)
- Lump sum critical illness – Pre-set cash benefits are paid as a result of a covered serious health condition. (i.e. heart attack, stroke, paralysis, or a major organ transplant)

Introductory Offers
- Accidental Death Policy – Covers you and your spouse with $3,000 each and each child in your home with $1,000 each ($2,000 in Florida only) to be received in the event of an accidental death. With this offer you will pay no premiums for the first year, then a $10 premium after that.
- Child safe kit – An easy way to record your child’s information to help authorities find your child quickly if he or she goes missing. It comes with an inking strip so you can fingerprint your child as well.
- MedFacts kit – This is a medical guide to let the appropriate people know your medical conditions and medications you are taking in case you can’t tell them yourself.
- Memorial guide – This guide helps you make sure your final wishes will be known so your funeral can be conducted as you would like.
Whole vs. Term Life Insurance
Whole life insurance is more expensive than term because coverage lasts your whole life. An advantage is your premiums will never increase. Also, if you continue paying your premiums, your policy will build cash and loan value.
Term life insurance provides coverage for a specific amount of time, generally twenty or thirty years. Although it is less expensive than whole life insurance, once the time period of the policy has expired, you will usually have to pay higher premiums to continue coverage.
Especially in today’s age where cancer is such a rampant disease, it is important to know the facts about getting cancer insurance coverage
