1. Accident Insurance

Accident insurance helps with the medical and out-of-pocket expenses after an accident or accidental injury. This benefit can be used towards the emergency room, medical exams and hospital expenses. It can also be used towards fixing broken teeth, concussions, ambulance, intensive care, lacerations, physical therapy, and more.

With supplemental accident insurance, your premiums do not change when you use them or if your health changes.

2. Cancer/Specified-Disease

This will help you in paying deductibles, for out-of-network specialists, experimental cancer treatment (which is usually not covered under regular health insurance), childcare and help unexpected costs, travel and motel expenses when treatment is in another town or state. AFLAC will also help you with normal living expenses.

3. Critical Care and Recovery

This type of AFLAC coverage is for health events like paralysis, stroke, organ transplant, coma, coronary artery bypass, persistent vegetative state and other covered conditions. AFLAC will help to pay for the out-of-pocket expenses that are not covered by regular health insurance.

4. Dental Insurance

Busy people so often forget to get dental insurance. Or they may get a policy that allows them to only utilize a few dentists. AFLAC has no deductibles or network restrictions. Their rates are competitive and never are raised due to external factors, such as the number of people insured by AFLAC in your area.

5. Hospital Confinement Indemnity Insurance

When you are hospitalized, there are always unforeseen costs. AFLAC has no deductibles and has a larger amount of benefit for the first five days of hospitalization. There are no networks or utilization review boards for certification. You can take your policy with you if you change jobs.

6. Hospital Confinement Sickness Indemnity Insurance

This covers ambulance transportation (which can be very expensive and is not covered in many health insurance plans), stays in the hospital, diagnostic tests, no network or precertification requirements. This comes in different levels of coverage, depending on the amount of coverage you want.

This insurance covers ambulance transportation, has increasing benefits, no deductibles and quick processing of claims. AFLAC covers major human organ transplants. Insurance companies almost never pay for organ transplants, but AFLAC does.

8. Life and Juvenile Life Insurance

AFLAC offers life insurance and another life insurance policy for your child.

9. Lump Sum Cancer Coverage

If you are diagnosed with cancer, AFLAC provides a lump sum payment to use on whatever you want.

Imagine suddenly being unable to work because you are critically ill. This could have been precipitated by a stroke, heart attack, coma, organ transplant, paralysis or end-stage kidney failure. This lump sum payment will help to pay your bills while you are ill.

11. Short-Term Disability Insurance

Short-term disability insurance covers your expenses while you are disabled. It is a percentage of your gross income that you will determine based on what you can afford and what your income needs are. You decide on the variables.

12. Vision Insurance

This insurance surpasses traditional vision insurance by providing coverage for eye examinations, glasses or contacts, specific diseases of the eye and for permanent visual damage.

National Guardian Life Insurance Group

National Guardian Life Insurance Group divides their coverages into four groups:

1. Preneed

This insurance provides coverage for your funeral and burial expenses ahead of time. This is a nice gift to give your survivors. Your internment will already be paid for, and your loved ones will have one less thing to worry about after you are gone.

There are flexible payment options available for you, and your death benefit gets larger over time and is not taxable.

2. Final Expenses

This program provides the funds to settle your estate, including, but not limited to hospital and doctor costs, unpaid credit charges, funeral and cemetery expenses. You decide on the amount of coverage you want, based on the monthly payment you would like to make.

Benefits from this insurance never go down and premiums never become larger. There is no medical exam — just a few medical questions. Under this insurance, there is an optional life insurance option for your children and grandchildren. There are also funeral expense and estate planning trust options available.

4. RxPlus Program

This program offers a discount prescription savings card. It can be used at participating pharmacies and providers’ offices on the following products and services:

  • Prescription: A 55% savings on prescription drugs at participating pharmacies.
  • Vision: A 45 – 60% savings on lenses, frames, LASIK procedures, contacts and exams.
  • Hearing: 30% savings on hearing tests and 50-60% on hearing aids.
  • Diabetes Management: 15% discount on diabetes supplies and medications delivered to you with no fees for shipping.

Comparing AFLAC with National Guardian Life Insurance Company:

AFLAC specializes in supplemental coverages and income replacement for various accidents and catastrophic injuries. This includes expenses for lodging and meals when you have to be treated out of town.

It also provides extra coverage for cancer treatment, experimental procedures and treatments and also for organ transplants. Insurance companies rarely cover experimental treatments or organ transplants. At best, they will only pay for part of the costs for these procedures.

Dental is also covered by AFLAC and extra funds for intensive care and hospital confinement. They also life insurance for you and for your children. Vision insurance is another AFLAC advantage and also short-term disability insurance.

National Guardian Life Insurance Group structures their coverages differently into Preneed, Final Expenses, Group Markets and Prescription Coverage. Their policies range from prepaid funeral and burial costs, final payments to creditors, doctors and hospitals, and limited vision, medical, group life, cancer, dental and pharmacy — but only in the form of group insurance and only offered at certain times. Their other prescription drug coverage covers a large percent of the costs for prescriptions, hearing aids, vision and diabetes supplies.

Both AFLAC and National Guardian Life Insurance companies offer excellent coverage options, with AFLAC being good, supplemental medical and income replacement coverage now, and National General Life as good coverage for a few needs now and a wide variety of needs and financial protection after you are gone.
