    We were burglarized and had been paying insurance steadily and on time for 4 years. When we started the policy, we asked the agent if it covered everyone living in the house and he said “yes”, neglecting the fact that it would cover everyone if we all put our names on the policy. We asked specifically if we should do such a thing (even after it was left out) and he said that it wouldn’t be a problem.

    Well, when we went to file the claim, we were informed that it wouldn’t go through because we weren’t all on the policy. We were then met with the agent’s (that we were now dealing with) supervisor who basically told us that the law was on their side and there was nothing we could do about it. Even though everyone is on the lease, there is an official police report, and we’d been customers in good standing for 4 years.

    Tom Malatino is a waste of time.filed claim almost 3 months now. I call every day, he never ever answers the phone. I leave messages, it takes him least 3 days minimum to return my messages.and when he does all he’s says is that he has numerous claims and he will get to mine eventually.

    these guys are con artist. taking your premiums every month and not handling your claim much less answering you calls and questions.

    We have a tree that fell through our home over a month ago. I called within the hour to file a claim. Received a call the following day from the assigned claims rep. and that was the last time we heard from the adjuster for 27 days.

    I finally made contact with our claims rep, Tammy Fenby and she said she passed our claim to another rep. named Frank Rosales a week after she had it due to the size of the claim. I asked her why we weren’t phone or mailed this and she didn’t have an answer.

    Needless to say, I called Frank Rosales (after leaving 3 days of Emails for him to contact me) at 6 am my time as they are 3 hours ahead (major inconvenience)and I finally go to speak to Mr. Rosales. He informed me he received the claim from Tammy 20 days after she received it.

    Looks like we are possibly going to have to involve the insurance commission and/or attorney. I’ll refrain from demeaning but probably accurate comments, however, incompetence & refusal to respond to daily Emails for a period of 3 weeks is inexcusable.

    Similar to Michelle D, we had massive damage from a tree. Our home is unliveable, and the insurance company is slow to get things rolling.

    Unfortunately, the adjuster did not explain what he was writing in his report, so I can’t even get proper estimates in order to get work started when the company has the report finalized.

    Me and my husband hadn’t even heard of this company and never gave out any information. Yet they still managed to get my husbands account and started charging us for a policy I’ve never even heard of.

    Whoever these people are, be careful. DO NOT GET THIER INSURANCE! They are cons!!

    You are as bad as used car dealers and have the ethics of multi-level marketers.

    By what legal right do you require written cancellation of a policy when the policy is paid in advance and then re-bill the policy holder even when said policy holder verbally indicates intent not to renew?

    We have been a customer of this company for years. We signed up through Geico. Our truck was broken into and clothes,electronics, and everything was stolen on a trip. This company only paid part of the claim. They refuse to pay for my husbands prescription breathing machine, his clothing etc.

    They wanted me to send in pictures of him using the tools that were stolen where you can see the brand of tool. How ridiculous. Chelsea is an adjustor that will talk over you with great disrespect and then hypocritically inform you that you are disrespecting her. Robert Shorthouse does not return phone calls. I work hard for what I have as a teacher and have paid my premiums on time.

    Now these people want me to jump through hoops just so my husband can breathe at night. I wonder how they sleep with such a crooked way of doing things.

    I received a statement for an Apartment in a city that I don’t even live in. I have no clue how this company even got my information. When I told them that I’d believe that someone else had opened a policy without my knowledge the agent told me to just “allow the policy to expire and once it had expired I would no longer be held responsible”.

    The agent claimed that there would not be any penalty because they do not report to credit companies. What type of company allows for an unauthorized opening of accounts and then has nothing set in place to rectify the problem. The agent’s attitude suggests that this is a standard practice of their company.

    I feel sorry for people who actually get tricked into paying for policies from this company that they never even opened but I’m sure that it happens all the time judging by the response of their agents.

    I am still waiting for my claim to settle. My claim has gone through three people and now Tom has it and he just says he has more than 10 people ahead of me so I will have to wait after already waiting 3 months.

    I called my state’s insurance commissioner and have filed a report with them. He has to get my claim done in 15 days unless he can prove that he is waiting on something. Having more claims ahead of mine is not an excuse the insurance commissioner excepts. I don’t know what will happen to him if he disobeys, but…oh well.

    Geico should hook up with a reliable company. I received my second invoice this year (Feb. 2012), with 2 pending according to their invoice, while I’m moving out in April. They want me to pay till January 2013! Is that legal?

    This billion dollar company has no email address nor employees to answer the phone during the weekend or after hours either.
    Customer service? Not since I checked last time.

    Although the lowest HOMO Insurance I found, they won’t return phone calls. Yeah, I have been with them for 3 years because of low rates but based on the responses here, I’m afraid if I ever have to make a claim!

    DO NOT USE this company. They do not return phone calls and as of today, it has been 3 and 1/2 weeks since I submitted my claim due to a burglary.

    Be careful if you have “business” property in your home. I just found out that out of $10,000 of items that were stolen, they will only reimburse $2,500….claiming everything was related to my photography business. Hiring a lawyer.

    My review for this company on a scale of 1-10 would be a -0.

    You might wonder why but let me explain on Dec 26, 2012, my apartment building caught fire and 21 families were displaced in this fire my apartment was the worst in this fire my family lost everything that we owned.

    Property management put us in a hotel for two days in my policy it said that I had $12,000 in additional living expenses the supervisors acted like they didn’t want to pay for additional living cost and when they finally did they thought they we doing us a favor. Terrible service. Had one dispute with one receipt on this claim and there trying to deny a whole household of items over one issue in which I proved on my part it was legitimate.

    It’s February 19, 2013, my case happened on Dec 26, 2012, my claim is still open a lot of false promises and Hopes on when your claim will be completed not a good feeling when your family loses everything they owned. I hope this never happens to any of these people handling the claim because they are treating my family like garbage or like homeless bums.

    Also, I have a speech disability and their renters claim supervisor Robert Shorthouse wouldn’t let me complete my statements a lot of times and my inspector that came to see my property noticed I had a disability and told my wife that they may think that I am nervous during my recorded statements and deny my claim. So this company discriminates as well!

    I am a resident of Metairie, La and have been for over 30 years. Our house was flooded during hurricane Katrina and had to be gutted down to the studs. The people from American Bankers were professional, understanding, and exceptionally helpful in helping us pay for the repairs to get back into our home 6 months following the storm.

    This company is a total joke and thieves on top of it…never filed a claim but my insurance somehow managed to go up every year by an average of $800…

    The whole company is pitiful, any other country would ban this company, leave it to the good ole USA to screw the normal people and help out the scam artists….

    Zero Stars…..After reading all the reviews, I’m thinking this company is a sham.

    They denied my claim on a bad roof for a mobile home I bought. That was okay because I planned on making the seller fix it anyway. But I can’t even get them to send me the estimate back so I can get the roof fixed.

    They won’t answer phone calls, just like everyone else is saying….This company is a joke!

    I just waited for over an hour to get a hold of someone to cancel a policy and all I got was one person sending me to the next then back to being on hold.

    ABSURD, irresponsible, and disrespectful to customers.
