I purchased trip insurance from AAC and then we had to cancel due to my wife’s surgery. Claim was filed and processed and I was assured payment but they mailed the checks to an old address even though the claim form had the correct address.
It has been six weeks and still no check. I have called at least 4 times and every time I get the same response: “it will be 7 to 10 business days”.
If you want fast claims response DO NOT USE Amex Assurance!

This is absolutely, hands down the worst so-called “insurance” company I have ever dealt with.
I’m a platinum card member for years and was hoping for at least an on-par customer service. The person on the phone acted like it wasn’t her problem and that I should continue submitting documents, which have been submitted and re-submitted over and over again.
This is not an insurance company, that’s why they are called “Assurance”, they will assure you that your money stays in their pockets.
I give this company a 0 out of 5 stars.

Requested that my Optima Card be “enrolled” for the Automatic Rental Car Protection Plan, but they got the wrong account. When the Optima Card was used to reserve and rent from Enterprise, three weeks later after receiving confirmation of the coverage, no coverage was provided during the rental period.
As this was the case my own insurance, State Farm) had to pay for some very minor damage, after I paid the deductible. American Express Customer Service Representatives can’t confirm the enrollment of their cards with AMEX Assurance. Apparently, AMEX Assurance has minimum-wage employees processing insurance offer responders.
Don’t use them! AMEX Assurance IS NOT American Express.

The service is terrible! I put in a claim on June 7, 2012. I have received no documentation or information. I have spoken with two client service people Sharlean & Holly neither of which have sent me anything or satisfied the claim.
I have called and waited over 30 minutes before hanging up and have sent 2 e-mails with no response. I have been a Gold Card member of American Express since 1987 and have never experienced such awful service.

I am so sorry to see all of these complaints. I have been with AMEX since 1998 and have no problems at all with them.
I had a major claim for a PATIO collapse, and it was handled with the utmost professionalism and timeliness.
I love AMEX to date and would always recommend and/or refer them to anyone.
I am also an Insurance professional and have never found another company to compete with their rates, or service to place my personal insurances.

Purchased travel insurance Sept., 2019 for a lifetime trip. Was told and details of policy assured 100% trip cancellation. Claim filed, repeated request for additional information (claim 0010886111) finally answered all request, full informed my wife had complications after surgery, Dr letter.. Then we received notification, trip had “open credit” and not refundable until 2 years from now. My wife will never be able to travel by commercial airline again. So insensitive. Adjuster said it was not their policy, but Delta. WRONG!!
OUR AX Travel Agent, has contacted Delta. We will receive a full refund due to flights changed involuntarily. This process was initiated 2 weeks ago, and your agent was not aware. It was as they read from a script. No help and you have our money for nothing. We also have to work with Tour group, because your people can not make it happen. Such a disappointment, and waste of OUR money and time. Also I have been a platinum member since 1996.
