    This company should be ashamed.

    My friend’s son died and they have made her jump through hoop after hoop obviously hoping that she’d give up on the claim. She has been through hell with her son’s loss and now this company has made it even worse by making this process so much more difficult than it should be.

    The money she would get is nothing to a company this size, but everything to the three children she is now helping to support due to the loss of their father. This company is all that is bad about the insurance industry and big corporations.

    Get your insurance elsewhere if you can!

    This company is the pits and I advise anyone not to get this insurance.

    My son died in August 2011 and as of today’s date, I have not received a penny from the company. They are giving me a run around just to pay on simple life insurance much less the accidental death portion. They do not even have the courtesy to send a letter of condolence.

    Premiums are paid on time, therefore, claims should be paid on time. Funeral expenses are not cheap

    I agree that this company is very difficult to deal with. I have had trouble since my mother’s death in 06/11. It took two months to pay the claim and I still have not received the death certificate I requested in writing to be returned to me.

    I have also requested a withdrawal form, a beneficiary change form, and a confirmed appointment date with my agent that she did not keep or call to cancel. My policies are paid on time but they don’t seem to care about the people, just pay the policy timely.

    This is the worse insurance company that I have had the misfortune to have dealings with.

    I was laid off from work, missed 3 payments and United canceled my policy. Even when I offered to pay two payments. Now I have a job and no life insurance.

    United is very unprofessional,they are only about the money……that’s so sad no wonder people talks bad about your company.

    This company is notorious for passing the buck.Our payment due date is the 2nd of each month. We have been late receiving the statements. They have been arriving on the 4th or 5th of the month. I called the local office and was told the statements are computer generated
    at another office and then sent to the local office to be mailed to the policyholder.

    I called the office in St. Louis, MO and was told the statements are computer generated in Charlotte, NC and mailed directly to the policyholder 30 days in advance. No one could answer why we are not receiving the statements in a timely manner. WHAT IS THE TRUTH?

    Oh my goodness, my mother has passed and I have my son insured for a very small amount which we want to surrender and waiting on the phone for hours to connect with someone. we are still waiting for forms to file.

    I will be calling every day. Has anyone filed a class action suit on this company?

    why is everything so negative about the company?

    maybe if some of you “customers” should get up from your behinds and drive to the district office. pay your insurance on time or be approachable that way your agents can better serve you.

    this is a home service company and your agents are really salesman, not collectors but individuals who sell insurance to replace others who run late and or lapse. this why this company is dead rich!

    stay on top of your payments by following up the district office with the administrators, the home office personnel have delays and attitude problems as well.

    I will not send my money to these people. I want my family to be paid on time if something happens to me.

    Run as fast as you can from this company.

    I manage operations for a company and would have never bought this policy due to the lack of knowledge, payout way too long. Now with another company, unfortunately, another loss in the family. Received payout and death certificate within days. Yes, I was glad to pay a higher premium it was worth it. Being cheap does not pay in the long run. Get out while you can.

    Would not recommend this company to anyone. not even the poorest of the poor

    How and why would anyone use this company with the many life insurance companies in existence? Their staff is rude, doesn’t allow you to speak and cuts you off so quickly you can’t stand to talk with them. Obviously, they don’t value nor care about their customers.

    I would not recommend this company to my worst enemy. No one should be treated so poorly merely for making an inquiry. Glad this not my insurance company, if it was I would switch very quickly.

    I have been in contact with this company twice in the past two days. The wait was average for an insurance company. The person I spoke with was helpful and very polite. If you are nice to them, they will be nice to you.

    This is the most unprofessional company that I have ever dealt with. Does United Insurance hire THE MOST ghetto people in St Louis to answer the phones?

    Yes!! And that’s why I am cancelling all of my policies with this company and will advise everyone else to do the same. I called to follow up on a claim following the death of my Mother and the representative was sighing as she picked up the phone and then transferred me to another representative who was using profanity, really!!!.

    This company doesn’t even deserve 1 star!

    I have to agree with all of the above, except Mr. 4 star. The people who work for this company are terribly unprofessional. I waited at home all day for the agent who said she was coming. She never came, never called and she doesn’t even work at corporate.

    Now I will lose my life insurance which I would have mailed had she not made an appointment with me and not kept it!!!!!

    My mom passed away on mothers day, all bills were passed on to me. One was united insurance she got in the 90’s I started handling insurance 2004. United is claiming I missed a payment which is not true, I have never missed a payment.

    United asked me to fill out to forms pertaining to my brothers one is very ill. United takes my money every month but never gave me any policies or certificates. My two brothers also signed and had notarized that I am the owner and the payee of my policies. United now 2012 I still have nothing for the money I send them every month.

    Now they are harassing me saying I missed October-November. They keep calling my home threating me my policies are going to lapse. If that happens I will take them to court. The person I gave my money to has been fired manager says he stole money from them.If you don’t have united ins of America don’t get them. My mother got united because that was all she knew.

    She is gone and I am here and I will deal with this too many years invested. How did they make so much money and not care about their clients?

    People only review when things are bad, never when things are great, which is why you search for reviews you rarely see a good one. I want to say this company is great and my family has used them for years 30+. They are always polite and informative.

    Never have we had an issue… besides the insurance guy running late a few times. Other than that I’d recommend them.

    On 3/20/3013 around 05:00 PM The Area Rep received payment from me_two $20.00 bills & one $100.00 bill. All were folded, leaving 3 crease lines on them. The Rep took off with the money, but less than 1/2 hr, he returned, saying that my $100.00 bill was counterfeit and the money was handed back to him (I know that was a lie) because no bank will hand back counterfeit money.

    I then noticed the $100.00 bill that he handed to me had been folded in half_leaving only one crease across the middle…definitely not the three creased bill that he got from me.

    I don’t doubt that the Insurance Company is good, however, to use more care in choosing Area Reps would be a good idea. ( Bakersfield, CA.)

    Have problems with my account for the past several years.

    Nice lady in Stone Mountain tried to help but can not settle problem on the phone. Sent supervisor with all kinds of promises several months ago but no results. We called him several times and left messages. He will not return call.

    Many promises but no results. Statement arrived today!

    When I started with United back in December 1993, their customer service assistance was awesome. Over the years they have gone down hill significantly!

    I have requested forms, only to be told that the forms are not required and then told months later that they are required. The answer to your questions will be provided a different answer depending on who you speak to and the people they hire DON’T HAVE A CLUE….

    When we took out the insurance back in 1980 we had a local person how you call out to Mo and you talk to a different person each time you call and some of them lie to you, each person will tell you something different.

    I am pulling my policy out and will not deal with them again.

    Unfair treatment with respect to employees.

    Continual breach of confidentiality with employee personal information with both employees and customers. Credentialing Specialist willful and total negligence when it comes to making sure that every agent is in compliance.

    After reading some of the comments I would have to agree with the people.

    I lost my little sister 2 months ago and I still have not gotten the rest of the money from the policy. When I call the people are very rude and I get a different answer as to why I haven’t received the money.

    I am sad to say after all of the years me and the rest of my family have used this company the one time we needed them they have not been understanding at all on starts from me.

    I can’t speak for all the locations but the one in Chicago on 87th Street is horrible. After reading the reviews, I say it’s a terrible pattern here. The don’t even deserve a star.

    mother has been paying premiums timely for 6 years. she paid in advance for two of those years. she always pays 6 months in advance but received a cancellation notice because she never got a premium notice and had lost the address to mail payment. was extremely difficult locating company info and took two months for anyone in the company to connect me with the agent responsible for my mother’s policy.

    The agent gave every excuse possible for not returning calls (wife had baby, lost phone book, could not get messages left on personal cell phone used for business,etc, etc, etc). company seems fraudulent.

    asked for policy statement, never got it(7 months ago). wanted copy of insurance policy, never got it even after paying $5.00 required fee. asked to speak with manager of agent who never calls back and she said that she would take care of matter but never heard from her again and she will not answer her calls.

    writing to supposed business office proved futile. I want my mother to get out of this policy because it probably will not be paid when she needs it(88 years old), but she says that she has invested too many years and money in it. next step, fraud investigation.

    If the company was the worse on Earth than why is it still in business?

    I know a few people who have insurance with United and they are ALWAYS late–they pay whenever they feel like it.

    One friend her Mom passed but she had not paid her premium in 6 weeks so she was not sure if she still had coverage–she made her payment AFTER the death of her Mom and her policy still paid…

    I don’t know of any other insurance company who will accept a payment more than six weeks late and you still have coverage?

    Obviously, they care about their clients …Anyway, you know how we are…its very hard to say something good about a company or a person…

    Apparently when 2 of my relatives passed away, I had no problems with the company.

    However, my sister lost a son this year and she’s having a problem on a claim.

    A few insurance companies are full of it.
